Health statistics across our state are alarming.
According to the Trust for America’s Health, Tennessee has the 6th highest adult obesity rate in the nation (34.8% from only 11.1% in 1990) and the highest overweight/obesity rate in the nation for children between the ages of 10 and 17.
In addition, Tennessee has the 9th highest smoking rate in the nation (23.6%).
Overall, the United Health Foundation ranks Tennessee as the 6th most unhealthy state in the nation.
It’s time to change that, and we invite you to join us.
Healthy Tennessee is all about connecting people with health education, resources and support.
Connecting People to Health Education, Resources, Support & Encouragement
People have more control over their own health than they often realize. And Tennessee residents have a wide range of resources and support available to help them achieve their goals. But in many cases they don’t realize that these resources exist or how to access them.
That’s where we come in.
The primary mission of Healthy Tennessee is to help educate and inform people about the steps they can take to assume more control over their health (and those of their loved ones) and the quality of their lives. Beyond that, we also help connect them with the many support resources available in their communities to help them successfully reach their goals.
We are also advocates for initiatives and programs that will help improve the health and well being of everyone in Tennessee, from newborns to the elderly.
